Murchison falls national park where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and cascades down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos and crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes, to Kibale forest national park the primate capital city, to Queen Elizabeth national park Uganda’s most popular game reserve for Uganda safaris and certainly one most scenic, to Bwindi Impenetrable national park famously, this “impenetrable forest” also protects an estimated 320 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population, Lake Bunyonyi is in south-western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale, and it is close to the border with Rwanda. The lake appears on the 5,000 Ugandan shilling note under the title “Lake Bunyonyi and terraces”. Towns on its shores include Kyevu and Muko, while its 29 islands include Punishment Island and Bushara Island, to The 370-sq-km Lake Mburo National Park is an increasingly common stop on the safari circuit as it’s the only place in southern Uganda to see zebra. It’s also the only park in the country with impala, slender mongoose and giant bush rat, and is a great place to look for hyena, leopard, topi and eland.

Day 1Arrival and hotel transfer

On arrival, you will be met and received by your driver guide from Asyanut safaris, who will then brief you as he transfers you to your hotel for overnight at Cassia Lodge (BB).

Day 2Kampala – Murchison falls national park

After an early morning breakfast, depart Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park. That allows you a visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary (track the Rhinos here) proceeding later for lunch in Masindi town. On arrival at the park, you will encounter a variety of monkeys, baboons, among others as you proceed for a visit to the top of the falls. This will see you return to transfer to your lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight at Pakuba safari lodge (FB) http://pakubasafarilodge.com/

 

Day 3Murchison falls – Game drive and Boat cruise

After an early morning warm up tea/coffee, you will transfer for a game drive to the northern bank in search of animals like: lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda kobs, buffaloes among other animal and bird species that your guide will help you spot. This will see you return for lunch at Paraa safari lodge. After lunch, transfer for a three hours boat ride on the Nile River to the bottom of falls where you will have the opportunity to view Animals like; hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, buffaloes and elephants on the river banks. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening,

Day 4Murchison falls national park – Kibale forest national park.

After breakfast depart Murchison Falls with your parked lunch and drive Southwest via the Albertine Escarpment of the Western Rift Valley through Hoima, the town of the Bunyoro Kitara kingdom passing through verdant countryside tea plantations and traditional homesteads. You will arrive in Fort Portal town the capital of the Tooro kingdom late in the afternoon proceeding to your hotel.

Day 5Kibale Forest National park – Chimpanzee Tracking

After your breakfast at 8:30am, you will transfer to the chimpanzee tracking information office for a pre-briefing by your ranger guide who will then lead you into the rain forest in such of Chimpanzees and other primates, including L’hoest’s, Red-Colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the dense forest. The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable.
Lunch and later proceed for an afternoon swamp walk at Bigodi with an opportunity to meet and interact with the local communities here. This wetland is found in Magombe swamp and is a home of about quite a good number of bird species including swamp flycatcher, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-spotted Barbet, yellow bill, White-spotted Fluff tail, Western Nicator, White-tailed Ant-thrush, Grey-winged Robin-chat, Brown-backed Scrub-robi, brown eared woodpecker, grey parrot, bronze sunbird, black-crowned wax bill and blue throated roller, Black Bishop, White-breasted Negro finch among others. Day 6Kibale Forest National Park Semuliki national park/ Semiliki wildlife reserve

Today after breakfast you will drive to Semuliki national park for nature walk and visit to the Hot springs. These natural springs have a geyser shooting up from an 8 meters-wide hole at a hot temperature. It’s the largest of its kind in Uganda. Along the same trail, you can recognize quite a number of bird species like blue –breasted kingfisher and Frasier’s ant-thrush and primates like the grey-checked mangabey and red-tailed monkey. Lunch will be at your accommodation and after lunch you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Albert in search of the shoe bill stork and other bird species. Day 7Semiliki wildlife reserve – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey. This will see you visit Katwe salt lake where you will see how the locals extract salt from the lake. Later transfer to the lodge with a short game drive. Dinner and overnight at Ihamba lake side safari lodge (FB).

Day 8Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After an early morning warm up tea or coffee, you will head for a game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queens Mile in search of animals like: lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mangoose, waterbucks, kobs and, if you’re lucky the leopard and about 606 bird species recorded here. After lunch, transfer to enjoy a unique two hours boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This launch cruise gives you a great opportunity for photography, bird watching and game viewing at close range. Day 9Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi National Park

After your breakfast, you will transfer for a game drive to the Ishasha sector in search of the rare tree climbing lions (however, this will depend on the road condition to Ishasha at the time of visit otherwise you may go via Ishaka) proceeding to Bwindi impenetrable gorilla forest national park. Day 10Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi.

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the gorilla tracking information office for a pre-briefing by the ranger guides who will then lead you into the forest trekking this great relatives of ours (Gorillas). The rainforest is dense and is crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, the thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a memorable one. Gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact with each other. After this day’s gorgeous adventure, you will return to your lodge for lunch (if not parked) and if time allows, transfer for a short community/nature walk to see this local people’s way of life and cultures or just relax at your lodge, dinner and overnight at Ruhija gorilla safari lodge, Bwindi (Deluxe Rooms) – (FB).

 

Day 11Bwindi National Park – Bwindi – Bunyonyi Island

Today you will drive from Bwindi national park to Bunyonyi, arrive in time for lunch at your accommodation. After Lunch you will transfer to Orugano rain Forest which has diverse plants and animals or spend some time interacting with the Batwa (pygmies) community who inhabit parts of the forest and its surrounding areas. Day 12Bunyonyi Island.

After breakfast you will transfer for a full-day canoe trek on Bunyonyi will introduce you to the major islands and their rich history, but also to a traditional healer and a craft maker who live on a peninsula with most complete views of the 25-kilometres long lake. There will be some little energetic hiking but also great time spent in traditional dugout canoes. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi safari resort (FB)

 

Day 13Bunyonyi Island – Lake Mburo national park

After your breakfast transfer to Lake Mburo national park, arriving for lunch at your lodge. Later transfer to enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo’s numerous lakes. This boat cruise will get you to come face to face with the flora and fauna of the lake. And along the bank, you will also see many animals that come to the water. You will also see many hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, buffaloes, and over 3 types of otters that are found in the lake. Also when it comes to the birds, you will view the malachite kingfishers, African Fish eagles, blue headed weavers, Rufuos long tailed starlings, the pied kingfishers, hammerkobs, Herons, pelicans, the rare shoebill as well as the cormorants. Day 14Lake Mburo national park – Kampala/Entebbe

Early morning warm up tea, transfer for a game drive in search of the beautiful Impala, Rothschild giraffes, Burchell’s Zebra, Topis, waterbucks, Warthogs, bushbucks, Klipspringer, Cape Buffaloes, elands not forgetting acacia associated birds including the endemic Red faced Barbet among other animals and bird species that your guide will help you spot. This will see you continue back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator to perform a small experience and then proceed Kampala. Arrive in time for lunch, if time allows go for souvenir shopping before airport transfer. (BL)
